Start with the fixed plan
Work backwards from when you want to be ready
Write down the party start or the time you leave for the weekend. Then identify when you can comfortably take the first rinse. A standard solution may use an 8-10 hour example window, while a rapid option may use a 2-4 hour example window. These are planning ranges only: follow Francesca's exact instruction for the tan applied.
An evening standard appointment can sometimes fit an overnight development plan. A daytime rapid appointment may fit a same-day rinse. Neither is automatically better. The right choice depends on available hours, sleeping, work, driving, children, exercise, rain and whether a private shower is available before the plans begin.
Two days or more before
Exfoliate carefully and complete hair removal before appointment day where practical.
Appointment day
Keep skin clean and free from moisturiser, oil, perfume and deodorant on spray areas.
Development window
Stay dry, cool and in loose clothing until the instructed rinse.
After the rinse
Pat dry, moisturise and allow the colour to continue settling before judging the finish.
Avoid last-minute barriers
Keep appointment-day skin simple
Do not scrub aggressively just before the appointment. Heavy exfoliation, fresh hair removal or irritated skin can make the appointment uncomfortable and the finish less predictable. Arrive without moisturiser or body oil unless Francesca has given a specific instruction for a dry area.
Have loose dark clothing ready before the tent is set up. Fitted waistbands, leggings, denim, tight socks, restrictive straps and closed shoes can create pressure and rubbing. If you need support or particular clothing for health, comfort or safety, that comes first—tell Francesca so the application and aftercare can be adapted sensibly.
Protect the journey
Driving or packing for a weekend
A long drive immediately after the tan adds heat, seat friction and tight clothing to the development period. Choose relaxed trousers or a loose dress, keep the car cool where comfortable and avoid placing damp bags or coats against the skin. Do not pack while wearing restrictive clothing if the same task could be done before the appointment.
If rain is expected, plan door-to-car cover. Water marks before the first rinse can disturb the guide colour. At the destination, know where and when you can rinse. A hotel shower after a late arrival may change which appointment window is practical, so include travel time when you enquire.
Let the colour settle
After the first rinse and during the weekend
Use lukewarm water, avoid scrubbing and pat dry. The guide colour washing away is normal. Moisturise once the skin is dry and continue daily. Long hot baths, chlorine, hot tubs, repeated swimming, heavy friction and harsh exfoliation can shorten wear.
A spray tan does not provide reliable sun protection. If the weekend includes outdoor plans, use suitable sunscreen, shade and protective clothing. Try the final outfit only after the first rinse where possible, especially if it is pale, fitted or delicate.
Quick answers
Party and weekend questions
How long before a party should I have a spray tan?
The practical slot depends on the solution and first-rinse window. Share the event time so Francesca can help plan backwards.
Can I travel straight after a spray tan?
You can, but loose clothing, staying dry and avoiding friction are important before the first rinse.
Should I choose rapid for a same-day party?
Rapid may fit a shorter day where suitable, but the appointment still needs enough time for application, development and the instructed rinse.
