The name describes timing
Rapid is a shorter rinse window
The main practical difference is how long the applied solution stays on before the first rinse. A rapid product is designed to be rinsed sooner. A standard product develops on the skin for a longer period before rinsing. This affects the shape of the day: work, driving, children, sleep, meals, exercise and access to a shower can matter more than a product label.
The guide colour seen immediately after application is not the finished tan. It is expected to wash away at the first rinse. The final colour continues settling afterwards, so do not judge the result only from the first shower or assume that a pale rinse means nothing has developed.
A planning range only; follow the exact instruction given.
A planning range only; the chosen solution controls the real timing.
A shorter protected period
When a rapid option may be practical
Rapid may suit someone who can attend earlier, protect the tan for several hours and rinse before bedtime, travel or an evening responsibility. It can also reduce the time spent in guide colour. The Deluxe includes a rapid option where suitable, and rapid solution is available as a £5 add-on to another eligible service.
A shorter window does not remove the need to stay dry, avoid rubbing and wear loose clothing. It also does not make an appointment immediately before an event risk-free. Build in time for application, development, rinsing, drying and the colour to continue settling.
A longer development plan
When standard timing may feel easier
Standard timing can fit an evening appointment followed by an overnight development period, provided sleeping before rinsing is appropriate and the exact time is followed. Loose dark breathable nightwear and bedding awareness can make the plan more comfortable. It can also work during a quiet day when there is no exercise, rain exposure or pressure to shower early.
The longer window is not automatically more intense. Colour choice, skin, preparation, product, rinse timing and aftercare all contribute to the finish. Francesca talks through the intended result before application instead of promising a fixed shade from timing alone.
The instruction matters
What to do at the first rinse
Use lukewarm water and avoid scrubbing. Let the guide colour wash away, then pat the skin dry. Follow any soap guidance provided for that solution. Once the skin is dry, moisturise as advised and continue daily to support a more even fade.
Do not copy a friend's rinse time or rely on a generic number from social media. Two appointments may use different products or be planned for different results. If the day changes and the instructed rinse is no longer possible, contact Francesca rather than improvising.
Quick answers
Rapid and standard questions
How soon can I rinse a rapid spray tan?
A 2-4 hour range can be a planning example, but the exact time depends on the product and Francesca's instruction.
How long does a standard spray tan develop before rinsing?
An 8-10 hour window is a common planning example. Follow the exact instruction given for your appointment.
Is rapid darker than standard?
Not automatically. Rapid describes a shorter rinse window, not a guaranteed darker result.
Can I leave a rapid tan on longer?
Do not extend the time without specific advice. Rinse at the instructed time for the product used.
